Advancing Agriculture Through Independent Research in Saskatchewan

A Horizon Ag Research Ltd. is based east of Saskatoon close to the town of Colonsay, SK. A Horizon operates out of two locations, each with distinct growing conditions and soil types (dark brown and black soil zones respectively). A Horizon Ag Research will be able to conduct herbicide efficacy, tolerance and recropping trials, fungicide efficacy and seed treatment trials, inoculant trials, variety trials, fertility trials and demonstration field trials. Since A Horizon Ag Research is centrally located, there is the possibility to conduct field trials in other soil zones as required.

MEET THE EXPERTS

Michael Steckler PAg

Owner and Research Manager

Michael Steckler PAg is the owner and Research Manager with A Horizon Ag Research. Michael has worked in the crop protection industry conducting field research since 2006 following the completion of his MSc in Soil Science from the University of Saskatchewan.

Michael has coordinated and conducted all types of field research trials since starting A Horizon Ag Research.

Olivia Whitemore BSc., AAg

Research Agronomist

Olivia Whitmore joined A Horizon Ag Research in the spring of 2023. Olivia began working in the agriculture industry in high school with a recurring summer job at a local research farm. She completed her BSc in Agronomy from the U of S in 2016 and has experience with small plot research including pesticide, variety, and biological trials.

Hardevinder (Dev) Sandhu, PAg

Research Agronomist

Hardevinder (Dev) Sandhu, PAg is the Research Agronomist with A Horizon Ag Research. Dev is a dedicated agricultural researcher with over 15 years of experience in Agriculture research, Cannabis production, Inspections, Quality Assurance and Agriculture extension. He completed his PhD degree in Horticulture from Punjab Agricultural University, India. He worked in both public and private sectors holding various positions in India and Canada. Dev has experience in conducting pesticides efficacy, pesticides residues, variety and other small plot research trials.

Céline Ferrér

Research Agronomist

Céline Ferré is a Research Agronomist at A Horizon Ag Research. She is currently finishing her MSc degree in Plant Science at the University of Saskatchewan, where she is researching which stem, root, and leaf traits potentially cause lodging in oats. Céline has worked in agricultural research since 2018 throughout university, working mostly in pesticide research and variety development.
